The Future of Destroy Us All

As promised, I figured I’d let you guys in on what I have planned for the future of this site. There’s quite a few things to cover, and part of the goal is to ensure that I get this content to you guys in a timely manner instead of just sitting on my hands and getting lagged behind like I have been.

First off, I’m going to start reviewing games very soon after I play them, and probably won’t go into great detail over games that receive a lot of media attention, because it’s simply not necessary for me to do so. I’ll obviously give my opinions and touch on many things that will make the review ‘me’, but I feel like I don’t have to cover some of the more obvious stuff with games that are already receiving a lot of media attention. For example, I most likely won’t be reviewing Mass Effect 2 or Bayonetta as I previously said just because so much time has passed and I feel like I don’t need to touch on either as much. I will say this of both of them though; you should play both of them. They’re easily worth your time if you haven’t already.

Second, I’m going to start doing video reviews/rants, but don’t expect ridiculously good editing unless I’m feeling particularly industrious at the time. They’ll probably be pretty simple, but I feel that you can probably get more information out of me about various topics if I’m actually talking about it.

Third, my overall goal will be to try and get at least one update up a week. Even if it’s just me touching base with you guys and letting you know what’s going on with me, or what I’ve been playing, I will do my best to put an update up for you guys at least once a week if I can. If I have absolutely nothing to talk about, then I won’t post anything. So if you don’t see a post, that’s why. But don’t worry, I won’t use that as a cop out.

Finally, I want to start getting my friends and those who read the site more connected, and I feel a good way to do that is with Destroy Us All’s Game of the Month. I’ve found myself wanting to play a lot of Half-Life mods that I used to have a lot of fun with, but have died out, so I figured a good way to get people together and have some fun would be to go back and play some of these. I’m not exactly sure when it will start, but if the game of the month is a mod or something that I can distribute around, I will host it for everyone to grab. I’ll generally set a time and date and people who can make it will leave a comment, or they can leave a comment explaining why they’d want the date moved or whatever. It’ll be a fairly simple process. Keep in mind, this won’t be limited to Half-Life mods, but it will probably start out with those, because there’s quite a few I’d like to play. Naturally, I’m also open to suggestions, but it works out better if the game is free/cheap so everyone will be able to play without any issue.

That about covers most of my plans for the future of the site. I’m planning a redesign using Word Press at some point, but the content of the site you see now will remain, so don’t worry. I’ll continue to do reviews and previews, and I’ll continue to update you guys on the shenanigans that occur in my life. It’s not exactly a reboot, but more of an assurance to you guys that I too, would very much like to get this site up and running again with more frequent content. So, thank you guys for sticking with me and getting on my ass about updating. Continue to do so. Look forward to the future.
